How to Change a Domain Name in Shopify

For most shopkeepers, the primary domain address is easy and automated.

There may be many reasons for changing its internet address in a store, but it is often a re -brand reflective of new products or focus.

An example of this is an Ideo -based manufacturer. Directly, a direct consumer company had actually made fishing rod lockers, and its domain name included “locker”. But the company developed a high -end trailer for fishing cakes.

Add a new domain

In the Shapaf Admin, get navigate Settings> Domains And if the domain is already registered, click “Contact the current”. Shapaf can register a domain from a user if needed.

If the new domain is already registered, click “Contact the current”. Then enter the URL in Moodle.

Type in the domain, and the shopkeepers can be directly connected to many registrars, such as Godaddy. Otherwise, this process takes two or three steps on the registrar to add records to the domain DNS.

• Add an “A” record.
• Add a “cname” record.
• In some cases, add a “TXT” record.

The setup is slightly different from one domain registrar to another, but the process is usually the same. Immediately after the record is set, the shop will confirm the new domain.

Change the type of domain

Once the shopkeepers are confirmed, assign a new domain to your store. Navigate Settings> Domains. Click on the domain you want to change.

There is a link to the bottom right of the page, “Change the domain type.”

Click “Change Domain Type” to the lower right.

Change it to a “primary domain”, and in a few moments your shop store will be directly in the new domain. Make sure the old domain is sent to the new. Before changing, make sure the domain is correct, as a shop, once again, allows only one time change.

The latest domain type appears on the bottom.

Redirect

The unfortunate side effect of changing the domain reduces the search engine traffic.

Although 301 redirect ranking is a established and reliable tool to approve the signals, some, like N, has suggested that a small percent of the link equity cannot be moved to the new domain.
