Google Merchant Center Updates: Changes For Online Sellers

Google is changing the rules of its Merchant Center. These updates will be in two stages and will have an impact on how sellers list the products in purchase ads and free listings.

Changes Information of Episode Episode, Energy Label, Member Pricing, and US Sales Tax Information Information.

Instant changes (starting from April 8)

The three major changes are now implemented:

1. New rules of episode prices

Google no longer allows the (price) attribute to be used to collect on episode products.

Sellers should use sub -recovery within the (installment) attribute. (Price) The attribute has to show what consumers pay when paying a thorough payment.

2. The latest energy label:

For European Union countries, Google changed the energy -saving class attributes with a wider (certification) attribute.

It supports both new and old European Union energy labels. Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom still use real energy qualities.

3. Improved delivery options:

Google added more details of the product level. New attributes include (career_shipping) and handling and transit’s Business Business Day options. These ads show more accurate times of delivery in advertising and listings.

Changes that begin on July 1

There are further changes on July 1:

Member pricing updates

Google will stop allowing member prices in regular (price) or (cell_pose) attributes. This is applicable worldwide for both compensation and free membership programs.

Instead, use (loyalty_ program) attribute. The products that do not follow this principle can be rejected after July 1.

There are no more US sales tax requirements

Google will stop the need to provide sales tax information to US sellers (tax) and (tax_ttraduate) attributes or merchant center settings.

Previously rejected products may appear in the results to lose tax information, which can affect your ad costs.

Google notes that US sellers still have to submit tax information by July 1st.

What these changes mean for sellers

How these updates will need to change your product data.

If you offer payment plans, the new rules make it clear how to show full payment compared to the installment options. This helps buyers better understand prices.

Energy label changes for EU countries match the current rules and give more options to show graphical labels.

Changing member prices will affect many retailers. If you offer loyalty exemptions, you should use a loyalty program attribute rather than regular price sectors.

Once a sales tax requirement is eliminated, US sellers will take advantage of easy feeds, which can usually fix dislike matters.

To prepare your Merchant Center

To work well your listing:

  1. Check your feeds for any old attributes
  2. Update the installment prices right now
  3. European Union Seller: Go to the new certification attribute for energy labels
  4. Change how you handle loyalty prices before July 1
  5. See for better listing performance that was rejected for first tax matters
